Mia Lam
Mia’s bold dream is to become a dermatologist to help people feel confident in their skin and make a positive impact on their lives. She believes in treating people as a whole instead of just focusing on symptoms, and she is passionate about serving others with compassion and care, but specifically making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she serves.
Mia understands that pursuing a career in medicine is competitive and challenging, but she also believes that with determination and the right support, girls can fulfill their boldest dreams. As a Trailblazer Fellow, she is grateful for the opportunity to receive professional college coaching and guidance as she navigates her college preparation journey. She is also excited to learn alongside and build meaningful connections with a community of inspiring Trailblazer Fellows.
Mia is a member of the National Honor Society, serves on the Minneapolis Public Schools Citywide Student Leadership Board, and is a member of the Mount Olivet Youth Leadership Board. Through these leadership roles, she strives to serve others, lead with purpose.
Mia shared, “I would give the younger version of myself the advice to not care as much about what others think of me and to truly be myself. I wanted to enjoy my life more, because I felt like I was being held back by the constant worry of others' opinions. If I could go back in time and talk to my younger self, I would say, “You are so special. Don’t let anyone dim your light. Stop caring about what others think of you—just be YOU!”’
