Birdie Bergara

Birdie Bergara, is a 17 year old young woman born and raised in Houston, Texas. Her big bold dream of going to college to study music led her to Apple Valley, Minnesota where her grandparents lived. She chose to live with them in order to pursue better education and achieve her goals. 

Thankfully for her, her dream wasn't too far out of reach. The Ann Bancroft Foundation is making it possible for her to study music at a MacPhail Center of Music summer camp, which will open many doors for her. Birdie's previous ABF grant was for Archery lessons and a new bow and arrow set; this opportunity allowed her to make new connections and opportunities to join clubs. Seeing how the previous grant allowed her to express herself, Birdie hopes to express her love and herself through music now as well. 

We asked Birdie what is something that you would like to say to your younger self, she replied “Be who you are, no one knows you but yourself. Stay true to yourself and you will find yourself along the way.”
