Marketing & Communications Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to oversee the creation of the ABF comprehensive marketing and communication strategy. The ABF Marketing & Communication committee provides direction on marketing/communication objectives, positioning, desired branding and initiatives including, but not limited to public relations, organization external communications, and branding that supports ABF mission and objectives.

Committee Requirement:

  • Committee members are expected to attend the majority of committee meetings.
  • Each member will be expected to lead/contribute to a variety of projects on an ongoing basis; the ability to manage & complete project work outside committee meetings is a must.
  • Chair must be a board member; all other committee members can be volunteers/staff, with exception of the executive director 

Desired Skills/Strengths: 

  • Passion & belief for ABF, mission & vision
  • Knowledge/Experience in PR, Communications, Marketing, and Brand Development or related experience 
  • Strong understanding of ABF mission, goals & objectives
  • Experience with non-profit preferred; not mandatory.

Committee Charge:

  • The marketing/communications committee shall retain an updated annual plan and schedule of marketing & communication needs to be shared as needed with Executive Committee/Board and other committees as appropriate in service of organization objectives.
  • The Committee Chair and Staff Leads shall make reports to the Executive Committee or the Board as appropriate.

Committee Authority:

  • Committee can prepare an RFP/RFI; interview potential agencies/vendors and provide a recommendation to board for approval
  • Committee provides recommendations to board for approval on any and all changes or improvements that affect Ann Bancroft Foundation’s brand image, visual identity, brand positioning, or outward communication to stakeholders.
  • Once board approves overall direction/recommendation, the committee has full license to extend improvements/changes to any and all marketing & communication activity within budget guidelines and expectations.
