Development Committee

The Development Committee sets the vision for and manages the overall fundraising strategy of the Ann Bancroft Foundation. With Foundation Staff, the Committee works to develop and implement sustainable fundraising strategies to support the work of the Foundation.

Committee Member Requirements:

• Four Committee meetings a year (quarterly). Additional meetings may occur as the Committee or its Chair deems advisable

• Desirable qualifications for Committee members include experience in development, grants, event planning and fundraising for nonprofit organizations. Financial acumen around nonprofits is also suggested.

• Attend all Committee meetings either in person or via conference call (one absence allowed), attend three Foundation events per year. Promote events and fundraising activities such as planned giving on social media and in personal and professional networks.

• Make an annual financial gift to the Foundation.

Committee Charge: The Committee plans for the long-term philanthropic needs of the Foundation to ensure stable funding going forward. The Committee provides the Board of Directors with guidance and counsel on revenue-generating plans by reviewing, discussing, evaluating, and helping to implement proposed financial development and marketing strategies.

Committee Chair and Membership:

• The Committee chair must be a Board member, all other members may or may not be members of the board. The Foundation Development and Events Manager is the Staff member assigned to the Committee. The Board Chair and Foundation Executive Director are also members, but not bound by the meeting attendance requirement.

Committee Authority:

• The Committee shall periodically review policies and plans relating to the development of long-term financial resources for the Foundation.

• The Committee shall make recommendations to the Board regarding the establishment of policies and plans for the development of financial resources, including endowment, capital campaigns, fundraising for annual support, gift acceptance and disposition, grants, planned giving or special events.

• The Committee will prepare and execute all RFPs concerning development, with final recommendations presented to the board.

• The Committee will make final decisions on the timing of communication of development events.

• The Committee will make final decisions on what events work best for awareness and fundraising and utilize the data from prior events to create future events.
