Donnie Belcher brings over 18 years of experience in the education and nonprofit sector. She taught High School English in the Chicago Public School System for 12 years and worked as a nonprofit administrator for 9 years.
Donnie holds her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from DePaul University and she completed extensive work towards a Masters Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction). Donnie received numerous accolades for her work in the nonprofit sector including: an Open Society Foundation Black Male Achievement Echoing Green Fellowship (’14), National Alliance for Media, Arts & Culture Creative Leader (NAMAC), 2016 Ebony Magazine Ebony Power 100 Honoree and she was personally selected by Deloris Jordan (Mother of NBA Superstar Michael Jordan) for the Deloris Jordan Excellence in Community Leadership Award. As a Board Member of the University of Chicago Graham School’s Know Your Chicago – Donnie helped to facilitate educational tours to encourage Chicagoans to get civically engaged.
Donnie returned home to Minneapolis in April of 2019 after living in Chicago for 17 years. She is excited to be closer to family and truly believes that there is no place like home! When she’s not working you will find her cheering for her beloved North Community High School “Mighty Polars,” chasing after her dog Muffin, planning her next trip and writing & crafting.
