Julianne Bye's career has included service in local government and business. She recently retired from the YWCA Minneapolis, where she served as the Director of Individual and Planned Giving. Julianne received her B.A. in political science from Montana State University in 1974 and MBA from the University of St. Thomas in 1985. She began her career as the Executive Director for the Local Government Review Commissions for Billings and Yellowstone County. As the Executive Vice President of National Benefits, she oversaw the company's enrollment and operations of pre-tax retirement plans for public employees in several states. For many years. she has been actively involved in her community with a special emphasis on education and advocacy for women and children.
She currently serves on the University of Minnesota College of Education and Human Development Campaign Committee and the MSU College of Letter and Science's Dean's Advisory Committee.
